KeepWarm at EU Sustainable Energy Week 2019

KeepWarm will be presented at the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2019, which takes place from 17 to 21 June 2019 in Brussels. It will share an interactive stand at the Energy Fair with the THERMOS project on Wednesday 19 June in the afternoon, situated in the European Commission's Charlemagne building.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. It is made up of a 3-day policy conference in Brussels, offering various networking opportunities, an EU Sustainable Energy Awards competition with a public vote for the citizens' award and local events, Energy Days, held across Europe throughout the months of May and June.

The Networking Village fosters information-sharing and new connections to promote sustainable energy innovation. It provides the opportunity for participants and stakeholders alike to exchange ideas on policies and best practices, and a chance to lay foundations for future cooperation. The EUSEW Networking Village accompanies the high-level Policy Conference, running from 18 to 20 June 2019. Contributors and presenters are selected by the European Commission, with an emphasis on interactive activities that encourage audience participation.

The joint stand of the KeepWarm and THERMOS projects, entitled “Local district energy planning reloaded - Hot solutions and cool technologies”, will help all interested stakeholders and local energy planners to identify the most sustainable and financially viable options for their district energy planning processes.

The THERMOS project will launch a simple, open source, free energy planning software at the stand in Brussels. THERMOS is a user-friendly, state-of-the-art energy system mapping and modelling software, tailored to support local authorities and energy planners in their thermal network planning. The tool offers address-level data relevant for expanding existing systems, planning new systems, or assessing specific network vs. non-network solutions.

This personalised and sustainable energy planning experience will be rounded up with complementary insights on district heating retrofits and the development of suitable business and investment models by KeepWarm, represented by project partner ICLEI Europe, including a series of demonstration cases from Central and Eastern Europe. For more information about the project, whose aim is to help accelerating investment in, and the uptake, refurbishment and modernisation of local district energy systems, please visit www.keepwarmeurope.eu as well as the respective ‘country pages’ of the seven countries it is currently active in.
